About The Founders

 

DR. RAY KADKHODAIN

Dr. Ray Kadkhodaian

Dr. Ray, alongside his wife, Jean, is the dedicated Co-Founder of three impactful organizations: the Kadkhodaian Behavioral Health Center (KBH Center), a nonprofit established in 2024 to serve the mental health needs of Delta County, Colorado; the Lighthouse Emotional Wellness Center, a mental health clinic in the Chicago suburbs; and Couples Synergy, LLC, an international company specializing in couples coaching.

Dr. Ray’s roots are in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. He pursued his passion for psychology at Creighton University in Omaha, NE, earning a BA in the field. Returning to Chicago, he furthered his education with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University. His career has encompassed a broad spectrum of mental health settings, including inpatient, outpatient, community mental health, and residential facilities.

 He has contributed his expertise to organizations such as Kenneth Young Center, Forest Hospital, Linden Oaks Hospital, Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital, Alexian Brothers Mental Health Center, and Gateway Foundation. Dr. Ray holds a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology / Argosy University and possesses diverse certifications and training in coaching, alcohol & drug counseling, group crisis intervention, biofeedback, hypnotherapy, and marital therapy.

Together, Dr. Ray and Jean have pioneered the Couples Synergy Model, a distinctive and effective approach to working with couples. For more than two decades, their expertise has guided thousands of couples, establishing them as leading figures in the realm of marriage and relationships. They have also developed Family Synergy Therapy, a structural model for family therapy.

Dr. Ray is particularly passionate about empowering husbands within their marriages. He focuses on teaching vital communication skills and enabling them to foster happy, healthy, and renewed relationships with their spouses. Working in tandem with Jean’s guidance for wives, Dr. Ray serves as an advocate for husbands, educating them on the typical developmental stages of relationships and providing support in navigating these challenges. His work with couples has also equipped him to effectively support individual men facing a range of issues, including career shifts, addiction, conflict management, and navigating transitional or familial relationships.

 

JEAN KADKHODAIN

Jean Kadkhodaian

 Jean Kadkhodaian is an enthusiastic learner who is just as passionate about teaching. Her model for working with clients is to use any tool that is available to help a person understand, learn and grow. Her ability to develop new skills and techniques has been what has kept her clients coming back for years, anytime they feel stuck or are in pain in their lives. She has been referred to as “The Stevie Nicks” of therapists because of her dynamic and eclectic approach. Her passion for growth and development in her own life make her an ideal role model for helping others.
