About Us

Dr. Ray & Jean Kadkhodaian started their careers in the mental health field over 25 yrs ago in the Chicagoland area. In 2002 Dr Ray and Jean founded The Lighthouse Emotional Wellness Center in the suburbs of Chicago with an original desire to provide a new and more successful approach to helping couples and families improve their relationships.

Dr. Ray and Jean were married on February 14th 1998. They met while working in a community mental health setting and discovered they were both attending Roosevelt University and working on their master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. Dr Ray went on to pursue a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology.

Their combined experience in the mental health field spans a multitude of settings including community mental health, inpatient, partial hospitalization programs, residential, foster care, and addiction programs. They have been helping children, adolescents, adults, couples and families for over 25 years.

They moved to the North Fork Valley in 2022 and found called to provide the same mental health assistance they became known for in the Chicago area. Their new nonprofit, the Kadkhodaian Behavioral Health Center, provides Delta County Colorado residents with accessible and affordable mental health services and peer support and wellness programs.

Their passion and life’s work to help individuals, couples and families learn and grow together led them to create Couples Synergy, Family Synergy Therapy and founded The Lighthouse Emotional Wellness Center.
